Producing Out of this World Designs with Roland’s VersaCAMM
Gamut Media | Brea, CA
Phillip Yu and Tony Nguyen of Gamut Media in Brea, Calif., produce award-winning projects that wow the crowds. To print and cut their exceptional designs, they rely on their Roland VersaCAMM VS-640i wide-format printer/cutter with CMYK, white and light black ink.
“We have a latex printer but we prefer not to use it much. It takes too long to warm up, only handles certain media, and is a hassle to set up for each job,” said Yu. “With our Roland, we load the media, push print and boom - it’s printing.”
“Our Roland is so versatile – it’s really solid. I definitely want another one,” said Yu.
Yu and Nguyen also value their printer’s versatility. “We can print on vinyls, canvas, backlit, whatever. And the integrated print and contour cut saves us time,” said Yu.
Gamut Media specializes in branding and graphic design services, as well as high-quality printing for wide-format graphics, including canvas prints, banners, signs, wall murals, window graphics and vehicle wraps. Gamut’s clients include individuals, corporations and small businesses located primarily in Southern California.
Gamut Media has won several awards for an entry that was part of a complete branding campaign for Saladish, a Los Angeles restaurant owned in part by former LA Laker Metta World Peace. For Saladish, Gamut Media designed and printed logos, menus, window graphics and signage, and a massive, floor-to-ceiling mural featuring a bold, illustrated garden scene.
“These are the type of project we live for,” Yu continued. “We thoroughly enjoy creating a new image for our customers.”
They recently designed, printed and installed several murals, including a futuristic Star Trek-themed design, for entertainment giant Snoop Dogg. “We really had fun producing those murals. We used the light black ink to add depth.
“Our Roland is so versatile – it’s really solid. I definitely want another one,” said Yu.
