Mark Krenn, president of Coastal Creative Reprographics in San Diego, Calif., began his career as a project manager for a construction company, which, he notes, is great preparation for owning your own business. “Every construction job is like a small business,” he said. Mark opened Coastal Creative Reprographics in 2013. 

To anchor his production, Mark invested in a Roland VersaArt RE-640 64-inch wide format printer. “The VersaArt’s print quality is excellent,” said Mark. “Other machines didn’t offer the wide range of capabilities the Roland has, and as a new business owner, that was really important to me. One of his first clients was the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, which was participating in a company-wide rebranding campaign. “Anything they asked me if I could do, it was a yes,” said Mark. “I knew my Roland equipment could do the job.”

For the Mariott Marquis San Diego, Mark printed and installed 2,000 square feet of wall murals, as well as elevator wraps and floor graphics. The hotel published pictures of the completed job in their company’s newsletter, and the rest, as they say, is history.

“The next call was from the Irvine Marriott,” said Mark. “They wanted to double everything that the other hotel did.” Since then Mark has produced graphics for more than 80 Marriott properties.

Coastal Creative specializes in wall wraps, window graphics, foamcore printing, tradeshow displays and media backdrops for corporations. They also design, produce and install vehicle graphics.

“I believe in running a lean business,” said Mark. “The fact that the VersaArt can run a wide variety of applications helps us stay lean.”
