Delivering Print with Roland
Meeks Group | Tulsa, Oklahoma
From its humble beginnings as a copy shop over 50 years ago, Meeks Group in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has grown into a multi-division digital and commercial printing powerhouse, occupying 77,000 square feet and employing more than 65 people.
“Buying a Roland was a pretty obvious decision – they invented the print/cut,” said James Camper, print production lead for Meeks Group. “The technology really works well, especially for applications like partial vehicle wraps. It can be a challenge to get different manufacturers’ machines to talk to one another. With a Roland, you just hit go and it’s done.”
Meeks Group specializes in large format printing, direct mail, and promotional products. In the mid-2000s, the company entered the large format market, investing in a Roland SOLJET large format color printer/cutter. Since then, Meeks Group has added a second SOLJET, the XR-640.
“We think of the move into digital as moving forward in the direction print is going,” said Mike Wilbins, Meeks Group’s COO.

Meeks Group has a full arsenal of high-end printing equipment, including multiple roll and flatbed units. “Of all of them, the machines I wouldn’t want do without are our Rolands,” said Camper. “Fortunately, they’re built like tanks, so I don’t have to.”
One recurring project that gets a lot of attention is Meeks Group’s wrap of the area’s 76-foot-tall Golden Driller statue, sponsored each year by local radio station KMOD to promote the Tulsa State Fair. “We love doing this wrap,” commented Jimmy Morales, Meeks Group’s director of marketing.
Meeks Group uses Roland’s VersaWorks software to RIP its files, and relies exclusively on Roland inks. “The inks are fantastic,” said Camper. “The entire color gamut is achievable.”
“We can start with print and print-related products like brochures, and help our clients all the way through vehicle wraps and signage,” said Morales.
